How To Burn an ISO File to a USB Drive

So you have an ISO file that you want on aflash drive, or some other USB storage device. You also need to be able to boot from it. Sounds straightforward, right? Copy the file over and you're done.
Download Rufus, a free tool that will correctly prepare the USB drive, automatically extract the contents of the ISO file you have, and properly copy the files contained within it to your USB device, including any files in the ISO needed to make it bootable.

Rufus is a portable program (does not install), works on Windows 8, 7, Vista, and XP, and will "burn" an ISO image file to any type of USB storage device you happen to have.

Double-click or double-tap on the rufus-1.4.12.exe file that you just downloaded. The Rufus program will start right away.

Insert the flash drive or other USB device you want to "burn" the ISO file to into your computer, assuming it's not already plugged in

From the Device drop-down at the top of the Rufus program screen, choose the USB storage device you want to burn the ISO file to.

Leave the Partition scheme and target system type, File system, and Cluster size alone unless you know what you're doing or you've been advised to set any of those parameters to something else.

For example, maybe a bootable tool you downloaded in ISO format advised on its website to make sure the file system is FAT32 instead of NTFS if you're burning to USB. In that case, make the File system change to FAT32 before continuing
Next to Create a bootable disk using, make sure ISO Image is selected and then tap or click on the CD/DVD ico When the Open window appears, locate and then select the ISO image you want to burn to the flash drive.
Once selected, tap or click on the Open button.
Tap or click OK to the WARNING: ALL DATA ON DEVICE WILL BE DESTROYED message that appears next.Wait while Rufus properly formats the USB drive so it's bootable, and then copies all of the files contained in the ISO image you selected
Once the status at the bottom of the Rufus program window says DONE, you can close Rufus and remove the USB drive.

How To Burn an ISO Image File to a DVD

What do you do with an ISO file once you've downloaded it? An ISO file is an image of a disc, like a DVD, so to use it you first need to burn it to a disc.

Properly burning an ISO image file to a DVD is a bit different than just burning the ISO file as you would any other file. You'll need to choose the "burn image" or "write image" option in your burning software and then choose the file.

If your DVD burning software does not have this option or you want something more simple, try following the steps below to burn
Have an ISO image you need to burn but you don't have a DVD burner drive or any empty discs? See my How to Burn an ISO File to USB for a complete tutorial on getting your ISO onto a USB drive instead.

Burning an ISO image file to a DVD usually takes less than 15 minutes. This procedure works to burn ISO images to CDs or BDs as well.
Download Free ISO Burner, a completely free program that only burns ISO files, making it really easy to use
Free ISO Burner is completely free and fully functional. HOWEVER, their download page (hosted by SoftSea.com) is a little tricky. make sure that you not downloading something else.
Double-click on the FreeISOBurner file that you just downloaded. The Free ISO Burner program will start. ISO Burner is a standalone program, meaning it doesn't install, it just runs. This is yet another reason why I prefer this ISO burner over others with huge installations. Insert a blank disc in your drive. As long as your optical drive supports it, this disc can be a blank DVD, CD, or BD since Free ISO Burner supports them all. Use the smallest sized disc CD don't use a DVD or BD. Click the Open button next to the empty space within the ISO File section, near the top of the program window. When the Open window appears, locate and select the ISO file you wish to burn to the empty disc.Once you've selected the ISO file, click the Open button at the bottom of the window to confirm your selection. Now that you're back to the Free ISO Burner main screen, check that the option under Drive is in fact the optical drive you put the empty disc in while on Step 3 above.Skip the customizations in the Options area unless you know what you're doing.Click the Burn button to start the ISO file burn.

Depending on how large the ISO file is, and how fast your disc burner is, the ISO burning process could take anywhere from several seconds, to several minutes, Now you can use the ISO-file-turned-disc for whatever you needed it for.

What is an ISO FIle?

An ISO file, often called an ISO image, is a single file, perfect representation of an entire CD, DVD, or BD. The entire contents of a disc can be precisely duplicated in a single ISO file.

You can think of an ISO file like a box that holds all the parts to something that needs built - like a child's toy you might buy that requires assembly. The box that the toy pieces come in does you no good as an actual toy but the contents inside of it, once taken out and put together, become what you're actually wanting to use.

An ISO file is the same way. The file itself is no good unless it can be opened, assembled, and used.
The most common way to make use of an ISO file is to burn the ISO file to a CD, DVD, or BD disc. It's a different process than burning a bunch of music or document files to a disc because your CD/DVD/BD burning software must "assemble" the contents of the ISO file onto the disc.

It's a similar situation when burning an ISO to USB, something that's more common now that optical drives are becoming less common.

ISO image files are often used to distribute large programs over the Internet due to the fact that all of the program's files can be neatly contained as a single file - the ISO file.

EXPLORER.EXE corrupted or infected [Solved]

You have this or similar symptoms - desktop is dropping after boot. You cannot open task manager because and You try but You get error message that says task manager was disabled by administrator. and You have to click ok. Then You get the same problem. It is not possible to do a system restore because You cannot go back past the last time You might tried to do it, but there are no more available days to restore to.
Symptoms: When You boot your pc, it comes up fine, with all the regular icons on the desktop and programs appear to be running, but then you desktop icons, and all files and you might be trying to click on close down in a flash. Then they re-apear again, just to do it all over again. You can managed to get to the run function to run regedit. That's as far as You want to go because You don't know where to go in regedit to find the culpret infected file to delete it. You may try to run virus scan with Mcaffee, but nothing is found.
There is the way that You can look to find the corrupted file in the regedit editor. It has involves the explorer.exe file and You don't know what to do to get to this infection, and You do not, under any circumstances, want to re-install You OS just to get rid of it. So - Where is the explorer.exe file located in the registry? Can this issue be resolved without drastic measures? Yes it can be resolved!

Here's how to fix this issue:

1. CTRL-Alt-Del to bring up Task Manager.
2. Click File | New Task(run).
3. Type regedit in the Run box and click OK.
4. Browse to the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution.options

5. Under this key there will be subkeys named explorer.exe and iexplorer.exe. Delete the explorer and iexplorer keys entirely. They should not be listed under the Image File Execution.Options key.
6. Close the Registry Editor.
7. Restart the computer.

Assuming no other viruses / adware / spyware / malware are interfering, the Windows desktop should load fine now.

Optimize & Tune Up Vista Windows for better performance

Windows Vista is a great looking operating system with some awesome features,
but it can be slow as molasses unless you’ve got a hugely powerful PC to run it.
For most computers however, a few quick Vista tweaks can make a massive difference in the speed of Vista for everyday use.

Here’s our list of recommended Vista performance and speed tweaks:

Windows Vista great operating system with some awesome features!
But Unfortunatelly can be slow unless you have a powerful PC to run it.
For most computers a few quick Vista tweaks can make huge difference in the speed of Vista for everyday use!

Here is 10 Comon Vista performance and speed tweaks:

1 - Turn off Windows Search Indexing.
Windows Vista search indexing is constantly reviewing files on your system to make their contents available for quick searching. This is handy, but can severely impact system performance.
To disable this constant indexing do next:

-Click Start then Computer
-Right Click the C: Drive
-On General Tab, Uncheck Index this drive for faster searching
-On the subsequent dialog box, Select Include subfolders and files

2. Turn off Remote Differential Compression
Remote Differential Compression measures the changes in files over a network to transfer them with minimal bandwidth rather than transferring an entire file that has previously been moved. By constantly checking for file changes, this service can hinder system performance.
Now to disable this service do the next:

-Open Control Panel
-Switch to Classic View
-Select Program Features
-Choose Turn Windows features on and off
-Scroll down and uncheck Remote Differential Compression
.......Special Note: Windows Vista has the same glitch as XP to get crash down with a bloated and corrupt Windows registry, and file system. I strongly suggest keeping Vista running in optimum condition using an programms like PC Optimizer RegCure etc... : Lot of these are free.

3 - Turn off Automatic Windows Defender Operation
Windows Defender real-time protection against malware continues to run despite having Automatic operation disabled.
To disable this feature do next:

-Open Control Panel
-Select Windows Defender
-Choose Tools from the top menu
-Select Options
-Uncheck Auto Start at the bottom of the window close all.

4 - Turn off Automatic Disk Defragmentation
Windows Vista and its always-on defragment feature isn’t really that necessary and can cause system slow down. Just remember to run a defragmentation manually monthly.
To disable this:

-Click Start then Computer
-Right Click the C: Drive
-Select the Tools Tab
-Uncheck Run on a schedule
.........Important: Keeping your hard drive defragmented is key to great system performance, but it’s very important not to neglect Vista’s core files, dll structure, and file/path reference system.

5 - Turn off Windows Hibernation
Windows hibernation background services can use a large amount of system resources. If you don’t use the Hibernate feature you may want to disable it.

To disable Hibernation do next:

-Select the Control Panel then Power Options
-Click Change Plan Settings
-Click on Change Advanced Power Settings
-Expand the Sleep selection
-Expand the Hibernate After selection
-Crank the selector down to zero
-Click Apply
-Exit

6 - Add a 2GB or higher USB Flash drive to take advantage of Windows Ready Boost (Additional Memory Cache)
Ready Boost is Microsoft’s name for using a USB thumb/flash drive to provide some quick access memory the operating system can use as extra RAM. The Ready Boost system can significantly improve system performance.
To set this up:

-Insert a USB Flash Drive (preferably 2GB or more)
-Click Start then Computer
-Right Click the USB Drive in My Computer
-Select the Ready Boost Tab
-Choose Use this device
-Select as much space as you can free up for RAM usage vs. Storage

7 - Turn off System Restore
Analysis and restore point creation by Windows Vista can use a big amount of system resources. Disabling this service will definately mean the system restore feature in Vista will not be available in the event of a system crash. Change this at your own risk.

-Control Panel>System
-Click System Protection on the left panel
-Uncheck the main system drive
-Agree to the confirmation

8 - Disable User Access Control (UAC)
This much-loathed new Vista feature attempts to protect your system from malware infection by making you manually confirm a whole host of everyday user operations. While it doesn’t directly impact performance, it can be annoying and might be more hassle than good.
To disable User Access Control do following:

-Click Start then Control Panel
-Select User Accounts
-Select Turn User Account Control on or off
-Uncheck User Account Control Box
-Exit and Restart

9 - Disable excess Windows Services that Auto-Launch at Windows Startup
like in XP, Vista delivered with all kinds of services enabled that load at startup and may never be used by most users.
To see what loads at startup and disable the ones you likely won’t be needing (They could always be started manually anytime)

-Click Start then Control Panel
-Select Administrative Tools
-Choose System Configuration
-Click the Services Tab
-You can safely deselect:
-Offline Files (unless you’re using Offline File Sync)
-Tablet PC Input Service (unless you have a tablet PC)
-Terminal Services
-Windows Search (If you have already disabled indexing)
-Fax (unless you’re using a fax modem)

10 - Disable Excess Windows Features
Windows come w/other features that are listed separately in the Vista operating system from the startup services.
You can view and disable these features by goin to :

-Start then Control Panel
-Select Program Features
-On the left panel, select Turn Windows Features on or off
-You can safely deselect:
-Indexing Service
-Remote Differential Compression
-Tablet PC Optional Components
-Windows DFS Replication Service
-Windows Fax & Scan (unless you use a modem for faxing)
-Windows Meeting Space (unless you use the Live Meeting Service)
Again this is on your own Risk Always back up the system to do any changes or work with Registry
Get maximum performance from Windows Vista
Optimize Windows for better performance
