Another way to speedup your INTERNET speed

Release and Renew Your IP Address

When you connect your computer directly to your cable modem, you’re given a unique IP (Internet Protocol) address assigned by a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server. This is essentially your address on the Internet. Your IP address doesn’t change often, but there will be times when you’ll be assigned a short-term DHCP lease and will need to release and renew your IP address before you can reconnect to the Internet.

Why Was I Assigned a Short-term DHCP?

You may have been assigned a short-term DHCP lease for a number of reasons:
You connected a new device, such as a computer, or a computer with a new network interface card, to the cable modem for the first time.
You turned on your computer for the first time in a very long time, and the DHCP server interprets it as a new connection.
The device connected to the cable modem isn’t configured to DHCP. You’ll need to obtain DHCP configuration instructions for your router from its manufacturer.
We are performing maintenance on the DHCP servers or elsewhere on our network.
The device connected to the cable modem is not functioning properly.

A properly configured device - regardless of the length of its lease - automatically renews its DHCP lease when the current one expires. This shouldn’t cause an interruption in service. Occasionally, you’ll have to manually release and renew your IP address. (This may happen when there’s been a power outage, you’ve moved your computer, bought a new router, or reconfigured your home network.)

Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8

1. Click Start and type CMD in the search box. Then click OK.

2. Type ipconfig /release and then press the Enter key on your keyboard.

3. Type ipconfig /renew and then press Enter.

Mac OS X Yosemite, Mac OS X Mavericks and Mac OS X Mountain Lion

Close any open Internet applications (web browsers, email, etc.).
Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu, then click Network.
Select your service that uses DHCP (such as Ethernet or WiFi) in the network connection services list.
Click Advanced.
Click TCP/IP.
Click Renew DHCP Lease.
Open a web browser and attempt to connect to the Internet.

Disable Bandwidth limitation of Windows 7

How to disable the bandwidth limitation of Windows 7 ?
Solution

Go to Start and you type gpedit.msc in the search field of menu.
Click on gpedit.msc at the top of the list and you accept the confirmation of the UAC.
In the window that just opened in the left side, you go to:
Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Network -> QoS Packet Scheduler
In the right side, you click on Limit bandwidth and you put the value you want to reserve for the system (in%).
So if you want to "unleash it", you put to 0.

Windows explorer.exe does not start at startup

I have realized that corruption in the Windows registry can lead to all sorts of problems. Some of you may have faced this problem, that after you logged on to your computer, you might have seen just a blank screen. No desktop, no Task-bar! This may happen because explorer.exe which is supposed to start-up automatically, did not start at all. While some registry error might have caused this issue, it is certainly possible the problem could be due to some virus infection too, which blocks the explorer.exe from running.

In such situations where your Windows 7 / 8 or Windows Vista explorer.exe fails to start-up automatically on every boot, here are a few steps you can try out:

Windows explorer.exe does not start
1) Start Windows in Safe Mode and see if your explorer.exe will start in safe mode. If it does, then obviously something is interfering with its normal start in regular mode. I suggest you scan for Kaspersky in safe mode, remove infections if any and reboot. Also check if any add-ons may be interfering with its starting up. Often, 3rd-party shell extensions can cause Explorer to crash on particular actions. Several programs add items to the right-click context menu. To see them in detail, you may download the freeware utility ShellExView.

2) See if a System Restore helps you.

3) Open command prompt(for this press WIN button and R right click on CMD) as admin and Run sfc /scannow.

4) Back up your Windows Registry first, and then open regedit and navigate to the following :

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
Winlogon

In Winlogon, on the right side, you should notice a value called “Shell“. In the RHS Pane, ensure that the default string value of : Shell is explorer.exe.

Double-click this value. Make sure only ‘explorer.exe‘ is given the value of Shell. If you see anything else there, simply delete it and leave only ‘explorer.exe’ .

Exit the Registry Edi
tor.

Restart the computer for the changes to take effect.

ShellExView - Shell Extensions Manager

Shell Extensions are in-process COM objects which extend the abilities of Windows operating system. Most shell extensions are automatically installed by the operating system, but there are also many other applications that install additional shell extension components. For example: If you install WinZip on your computer, you'll see a special WinZip menu when you right-click on a Zip file. This menu is created by adding a shell extension to the system.
The ShellExView utility displays the details of shell extensions installed on your computer, and allows you to easily disable and enable each shell extension.

ShellExView can be used for solving context-menu problems in Explorer environment.

The ultimate protection against viruses!

Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2015 is the new edition of the well-known anti-virus, now with a more powerful engine, a revamped style, better usability, and greater protection against on-line dangers.

Turn your computer into a fortress

Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2015 intercepts, blocks and removes viruses, worms, trojans, spyware, keyloggers, rootkits and other types of malware.

The real-time protection is excellent with files, emails and Internet traffic getting filtered effectively. The program also protects against phishing by identifying and blocking links to sites that have been infected with malware.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2015 also includes a self-defense mechanism that blocks files that are acting weird, useful for preventing attacks from potential malware that hasn't yet been recognized by the database. On top of that, this new version of Kaspersky provides additional protection against ransom-ware.

In the Tools section of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2015, you can find some very useful system security options:

Vulnerability scan: identifies flaws in the system or in any third-party apps you have installed, allowing you to immediately repair any problems;

Kaspersky Rescue Disk: creates a bootable CD or USB drive with the engine;

Windows Troubleshooting: analyzes the system and repairs any problems caused by malicious software;

Privacy Cleaner: cleans the system of unnecessary files (cookies, cache, log etc.);

Browser Configuration: analyzes your Internet Explorer settings and suggests ways to optimize security (this tool is incompatible with other browsers);

Cloud Protection: provides immediate protection against new threats as well as real-time information about the security and reputations of the web sites you visit.

Finally, KAV 2015 has introduced a new feature that automatically updates the program to the latest version available.
A new design
Kaspersky has a renewed design: this new version is dedicated to efficiency with a sharper and more user-friendly interface.

The main screen shows the protection status of your computer and provides easy access to the most important areas: scans, updates, reports and a virtual keyboard. Additional options can be accessed by clicking on the Show Additional Tools button.

The basic configuration of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2015 is excellent for most users. More experienced users can personalize their configuration by going to the Settings menu (not visible in the interface).
A powerful and reliable anti-virus, but with no significant changes
Kaspersky Anti-Virus (KAV) is one of the most popular antiviruses on the market. The antivirus scanning engine is among the best available and its new design makes it even more user-friendly.

As far as new features go, there aren't really any big innovations in the 2015 version, but the tools and options have been generally improved, along with the antivirus performance.

KAV 2015 consumes less resources compared to the previous edition, but it still has a long way to go in that respect. Although it is a great antivirus, it works better when used on computers with good hardware.

Start your computer in safe mode

Safe mode starts Windows with a limited set of files and drivers. Startup programs don't run in safe mode, and only the basic drivers needed to start Windows are installed.
Safe mode is useful for troubleshooting problems with programs and drivers that might not start correctly or that might prevent Windows from starting correctly. If a problem doesn't reappear when you start in safe mode, you can eliminate the default settings and basic device drivers as possible causes. If a recently installed program, device, or driver prevents Windows from running correctly, you can start your computer in safe mode and then remove the program that's causing the problem.

Remove all floppy disks, CDs, and DVDs from your computer, and then restart your computer.

Click the Start button Picture of Start button, click the arrow next to the Shut Down button Picture of Shut Down button, and then click Restart.
Do one of the following:

If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you'll need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then shutting down and restarting your computer.

If your computer has more than one operating system, use the arrow keys to highlight the operating system you want to start in safe mode, and then press F8.

On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight the safe mode option you want, and then press Enter.

Log on to your computer with a user account that has administrator rights.

When your computer is in safe mode, you'll see the words Safe Mode in the corners of your monitor. To exit safe mode, restart your computer and let Windows start normally.

quick tips:
Start Windows 7/Vista/XP in Safe Mode with Networking
Immediately after the computer is powered on or restarted (usually after you hear your computer beep), tap the F8 key in 1 second intervals.
After your computer displays hardware information and runs a memory test, the Advanced Boot Options menu will appear.
